Material Fire Rating

Fire performance is a critical consideration in façade and internal lining design, particularly under NCC 2022 requirements. ShapeShift provides independently tested fire performance data for ShapeShell™-RC (reinforced concrete) and ShapeShell™-RT (reinforced thermoset), supporting informed specification and performance-based design pathways.

Fire Performance Overview

Fire compliance is assessed based on the complete wall or lining system — including backing wall, structural supports, insulation, cavity treatment, fixings, sealants and coatings. While individual material testing is essential, project compliance must consider the entire assembly and the nominated Performance Solution or Deemed-to-Satisfy pathway.

ShapeShell™ products have undergone independent laboratory testing and third-party review to provide clarity on combustibility, reaction-to-fire behaviour, heat and smoke release, ignitability indices, and large-scale façade performance.

Design & Specification Guidance

When specifying ShapeShell™ products in façade or internal applications:

  • Confirm the relevant NCC pathway (Deemed-to-Satisfy or Performance Solution).

  • Coordinate early with the fire engineer for cavity design, barriers and junction detailing.

  • Verify coating systems where applicable.

  • Consider interaction with insulation type and structural supports.

  • Ensure documentation aligns with tested configurations where required.

Fire performance should always be considered as part of the overall façade engineering strategy rather than in isolation.
