Founded in 2014, MPavilion is a unique architecture commission and design event for Melbourne, initiated by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation with support from City of Melbourne and the Victorian State Government. Every year for four years, an outstanding architect will be commissioned to design a temporary pavilion for the Queen Victoria Gardens, in the centre of Melbourne’s Southbank Arts Precinct. This year Arup, ShapeShift and AL_A have collaborated to deliver the design of the 2015 Pavilion.
"ShapeShift were absolutely committed to exploring this idea of a largespan, wafer-thin surface. Their research into carbon fibres and advanced fibres embedded with sound and light systems meant they found a way of making it work. The reality is more beautiful than we could have imagined."
