Sustainability in Manufacturing

Sustainability & Low-Carbon Performance

Our production practice is designed with sustainability in mind, offering a low-carbon alternative to traditional construction materials. Its advanced reinforced thermoset composition significantly reduces environmental impact across its lifecycle—from production and transport to installation and long-term performance.

Lower Carbon Footprint & GHG Emissions

We achieves substantial reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy consumption compared to conventional materials:

  • 6x lower GHG emissions than aluminium.
  • 3x lower primary energy consumption during production.
  • Total environmental impact is reduced by half compared to aluminium.

Resource Efficiency & Reduced Material Use

The high strength-to-weight ratio of our reinforced material enables lighter, more efficient structures, resulting in:

  • Less supporting steel and concrete, reducing embodied carbon in construction.
  • Fewer transport requirements, leading to lower fuel consumption and emissions.
  • Reduced construction waste, thanks to precise off-site digital fabrication.

Proven Sustainability Benefits in Major Projects

  • Sydney Football Stadium: By replacing 5,000 sqm of aluminium, the project achieved a 65% reduction in primary energy consumption and an 83% decrease in GHG emissions. The removal of a perimeter steel member further lowered material use.
  • Pakenham Station: Switching to ShapeShell-RT fins contributed to a 2% overall reduction in the station’s total GHG emissions, preventing 1,245 tonnes of CO₂ from being released.

ShapeShell-RT aligns with modern sustainability goals, providing architects and developers with a low-impact, high-performance material that supports carbon reduction initiatives and sustainable building practices.
